Malaysia West Yacht Charter / Enchanting, Magical, Tropical

Take to the crystal clears water of northwest Malaysia on a yacht charter in and around Langkawi. The region is famed for its hundreds of pristine and mainly uninhabited islands stretching up and over the border of Thailand. In recent years, the area has benefited from an influx of high-end tourists intent on exploring the island of Langkawi and its neighbour Penang.

Langkawi boasts a multitude of high-end resorts to entice the tourist including the uber luxe resort of The Datai. Set in dense jungle fauna, this idyllic retreat is a perfect way to book end your charter. Arriving on to the island via small aircraft from Malaysia’s capital Kuala Lumpur, The Datai’s staff can arrange a pick up, and then after a day or two of relaxation to get over your jet lag, your driver will take you to meet your yacht. Once on your yacht, set about exploring the multitude of idyllic bays and coves where the only possible access is via boat. The area is still relatively quiet with yachts, so in general you will have anchorages to yourself.

The island of Penang is another famous hotspot for visiting yachts. The bustling town of Georgetown is a metropolis of high rise buildings but once you get away from there, the island offers the same charms as the rest of Malaysia – Rice fields, clear waters and beautiful beaches.

As you head north from Langkawi you will be in Thailand within an hour. The border island of Koh Lipe is of breathtaking beauty – for some the reason the waters here change to a transparent blue and the sand becomes whiter. The best time to visit the region is between November and March. Destinations Georgetown / Langkawi/ Koh Lipe / Kuala Lumpur / Penang.
